SMS opt-in and verbal consent script
How consent is collected
Project FR is used by K-12 schools and school-affiliated fundraising programs. A supporter provides their mobile number directly to a participant, staff member, or school fundraising representative during a school-related fundraising interaction.
Before a mobile number is entered for SMS outreach, the supporter is told exactly what messages they will receive, that message frequency varies, that message and data rates may apply, that they can reply STOP to opt out, that they can reply HELP for help, and that consent is not required to donate.

Required verbal response
Simulated verbal opt-in example
Supporter: “Yes.”
Participant or school representative: “Project FR sends school fundraising text messages for this fundraiser. If you agree, we may send you donation links and fundraiser reminders by SMS at this mobile number. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP to opt out at any time or HELP for help. Your consent is not required to make a donation. Do I have your permission to add this phone number so you can receive these school fundraising text messages?”
Supporter: “Yes, you can send me the text.”
Participant or school representative: “Thank you. I am adding your number now. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out.”
How consent is recorded
When a supporter gives verbal consent, the participant or school representative enters the supporter’s name and mobile phone number in Project FR for the selected school fundraiser. Project FR records the contact entry, fundraiser context, participant or staff context, and related outreach status. Opt-out requests are recorded and respected across the fundraising messaging workflow.
